The word “yoga” comes from the Sanskrit root “yuj”, which means, “to yoke” the spirit and physical body together.
Yoga has evolved over 2500 years to embrace a wide range of styles and disciplines focusing on the body, breath and mind (physical, emotional and mental) being united in every human being.
The practice of yoga cultivates health and well being through a range of different postures (or asanas), movement, breath awareness and breathing exercises, relaxation, concentration, self-inquiry and meditation.
Yoga can be modified to suit all levels of fitness and has been proven to lower blood pressure and increases strength and flexibility.
It energises our bodies and calms our minds.

What to wear to yoga:
Proper alignment of yoga postures is important for many types of yoga. Choose clothes that are stretchy and comfortable yet not too baggy. Whatever you choose to wear to class, you should be able to move freely from pose to pose, and of course look good for your post class almond mylk latte and tempeh!
